Opening Night is Friday, February 16, 2024
In The Glass Menagerie, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tennessee Williams explores the themes of regret, lost youth, and emotional sensitivity through the memories of the character Tom Wingfield (played by Todd Phillips).
In this dream-like play, Tom remembers his conflicted desires regarding the course of his life, his desperate need to escape his demanding mother (played by Carrie Butler Swann), and a transformative evening involving his sensitive sister (played by Cassidy Kelly) and a friend from his workplace (played by Nikolaas Van Kley).
Using highly-charged poetic language, this masterwork of literature is filled with tenderness and trauma, love and regret, fragility and strength—all combining to create a beautifully haunting play which mirrors the human experience.
The Glass Menagerie will be directed by Melissa McMillian-Cunningham. Elaine Lambright is the Assistant Director.
Auditions were held on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 1-4pm at Lamp-Lite Theatre.
